Glazing
Non-Reflective glass
Non-reflective glass or non-glare glass is etched on one side to diffuse reflection. It is this non-reflective property that ensures you can see your artwork, even when hung in an area with lots of light. It is important to note that non-reflective glass does not reflect UV light and therefore provides no protection against UV light fading.
Non reflective Glass come with a thickness of 2mm and maximum size of 48" X 72".
Advantages for non-reflective glass features an etched surface on one side that helps reduce the reflection and is suitable for which the painting is likely to hang on a wall with reflective light.
Disadvantages for non refletctive glass are the etching results in a loss of sharpness that is proportional to the distance between the artwork and the glazing.
It is aslo not recommended for pictures with fine detail since some clarity is lost. This loss of clarity is further emphasised when the glass is spaced away from the artwork, such as when using double mat boards or spacers are used and having shadow box framing.
